Specimen Requirements

24-hour Urine Collection

Container: Leakproof plastic urine container

Specimen Collection: 10 mL (minimum 1 mL)

  1. Collect a 24-hour urine specimen.

  2. Aliquot 10 mL of a well-mixed 24-hour urine collection into a leakproof plastic urine container.

  3. Record collection time and total volume.

  4. Store and transport refrigerated.

 

Specimen Rejection

1. Specimens that have been at room temperature longer than 2 hours

Maximum Laboratory Time

24 - 48 hours

Specimen Transport/Stability

Refrigerated: 7 days
