- Collect a random stool specimen in a clean leakproof plastic container.
- Store and transport refrigerated.

Room Temp: 2 hour for fresh stools
Refrigerated: 14 days for fresh stools
Specimen Rejection
Preserved stool specimen.
Maximum Laboratory Time
24 - 48 hours

A positive result is indicative of the presence of lactoferrin, a marker for fecal leukocytes. A negative result does not exclude the presence of intestinal inflammation.
