Capillary Whole Blood

Container: Heparinized Plastic Capillary Tube

Specimen Collection: Full capillary tube with no bubbles

  1. Contact NVH Laboratory for collection procedure.
  2. Appropriately filled heparinized plastic capillary tube containing a mixing wire.
  3. Cap with capillary tube caps.
  4. Once collected, bring to lab immediately while using mixing wire and magnet to mix.
  5. Include collection site with patient information.
  6. Test must be performed immediately upon obtaining specimen.

Specimen Transport/Stability

Transport to lab immediately upon collection.
