Specimen Requirements
Capillary Whole Blood
Container: Heparinized Plastic Capillary Tube
Specimen Collection: Full capillary tube with no bubbles
- Contact NVH Laboratory for collection procedure.
- Appropriately filled heparinized plastic capillary tube containing a mixing wire.
- Cap with capillary tube caps.
- Once collected, bring to lab immediately while using mixing wire and magnet to mix.
- Include collection site with patient information.
- Test must be performed immediately upon obtaining specimen.

60 minutes
Specimen Transport/Stability
Transport to lab immediately upon collection.
